The last weekend of February brings battle re-enactments at the Alamo, Buffalo Soldier heritage at Fort Concho, and tours of Port Aransas in celebration of the migration of the endangered whooping cranes.

Whooping Crane Festival

Port Aransas: Feb. 22-25
This annual festival celebrates the migration of the endangered whooping cranes with birding bus and boat tours, renowned speakers, exhibits, demonstrations, nature related booths, and more. 

Fiesta Edinburg

Edinburg: Feb. 22-25
The 50th annual event is the Edinburg Chamber's largest celebration. Major attractions such as the Heart of America Carnival, regional food, arts and crafts, plus top-notch entertainment are a large draw to the community festival at HEB Park.

Texas Trail Roundup

San Antonio: Feb. 23-25
A three-day, noncompetitive, international walking festival that encourages walking as a fitness activity to promote international understanding and friendships. The festival features 5k to 42k walks in and around downtown San Antonio or through the five missions.

Alamo Siege & Battle Commemoration

San Antonio: Feb. 23-March 6
The Alamo will also be doing a 14-day interactive living history program to commemorate the anniversary of the 1836 battle. 

PBR Iron Cowboy

Arlington: Feb. 24
The world's premier bull riding organization, PBR (Professional Bull Riders), brings the second major event of the 2018 elite tour to Arlington's AT&T Stadium and celebrates the 25th anniversary of a dream that 20 cowboys made a reality turned global phenomenon. The 35 toughest cowboys in the world go head to head with the rankest bulls in the world to make the 8-second ride.

Austin Oyster Festival

Austin: Feb. 24
Now in its fifth year, the festival is an annual hit among locals and visitors alike. Not sure which kind of oyster you prefer? Try 'em all while enjoying a little live Cajun and "newgrass" music on the lawn of the French Legation Museum.

Buffalo Soldier Heritage Day

San Angelo: Feb. 25
Displays, presentation, and programs at Fort Concho National Historic Landmark will honor the famed African-American troops of the Western frontier. 

Stock Show and Rodeo

San Antonio: Through Feb. 25
