Brunch isn’t just the term for a meal between breakfast and lunch anymore—it’s a hobby—one that sounds even more appealing when you’ve spent the day prior at one of Fredericksburg’s 11 wineries. In town, there are plenty of joints serving weekend or daily brunch that are diverse enough to fit any vibe, from mimosas on the patio to croissants and espresso.

Emma + Ollie

Brunch at Emma + Ollie feels like a trip back to grandma’s kitchen. Here, the mantra is “made from scratch only,” which means using sugar and butter rather than artificial sweeteners and chemicals and antibiotic-free meat. Chef Rebecca Rather crafts world-class pastries from beignets to cinnamon rolls. Other standouts from the brunch menu include the crawfish Benedict and the pecan crusted French toast bread pudding served with bourbon glaze and fresh berries. Enjoy your farm-to-table meal from the restaurant’s fresh and elegant interior or the front or back porch.

Sunset Grill

For a boozy weekend brunch, head to Sunset Grill and sip on a bloody mary or one (or several) of six different mimosa-style cocktails. For the table, there’s parmesan zucchini fries, baked brie with fruit and nuts, or crab-puppies, the hybrid of a crab cake and hushpuppy. Well-known by its motto “The Best Breakfast in Town,” the restaurant’s savory breakfast dishes make Sunset Grill a favorite spot amongst locals. This restaurant is also popular for its charming outdoor patio with plants and colorful umbrellas, so be sure to take all of your Instagram photos prior to stuffing your face.

Andy’s Grille

An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, custom omelet bar, and fresh fruit bar for $13? Pinch yourself because this dream is a reality every weekend at Andy’s Grille. All entrees, sauces, vegetables, salads, and desserts are made from scratch and all of the meat and seafood is cut in-house. The hand-crafted mimosa lineup includes the Alt Mosa, made with hops from local brewery Altstadt. A Fredericksburg tradition, Andy’s is the oldest continuously open restaurant in Gillespie County and is also well-known for its lunch menu, specifically its nationally recognized chicken-fried steak. For the best of both worlds, order the country fried steak and egg breakfast, which comes with home fries and toast or a biscuit.

Nury’s Breakfast & Lunch

For a brunch unlike any other in Fredericksburg, hit Nury’s Breakfast & Lunch. This authentic Mexican-American brunch spot serves local beer and wine, mimosas, and dishes such as chilaquiles, cochinita pibil, and huevos divorciados. Patrons can also find brunch staples like omelets, pancakes, French toast, and more. Chef Nury Lopez began her culinary career in Mexico but is well-versed in several cuisines: Italian, French, American, and Japanese. A wide array of flavors and artistic plating make the dishes as colorful as they are delicious.

Woerner Warehouse Café + Catering

Located inside the Woerner Feed Store in the heart of the Hill Country wine region, this restaurant has it all: a delightful breakfast and lunch menu, indoor and outdoor seating, a full espresso bar, local wine, bottled beer, and creative plates made with local produce. High ceilings, string lights, and walls covered with art create a trendy atmosphere that contrasts the warehouse’s rustic feel. Breakfast at Woerner Warehouse is served Monday through Saturday, and features bagel sandwiches, five kinds of avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, and croissants. After 11 a.m., choose from the extensive list of soups, salads, pizzas, paninis, and deli sandwiches. Afterward, shop for antiques in the renovated warehouse and pick up a dessert from the bakery to take home with you.
