TH Taste: Margarita recipe

Former Texas Highways editor Frank Lively was known for his puckery and potent margaritas, made with equal parts tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice—shaken, strained and served like a martini. But now that a Texas company, Paula’s Texas Orange, makes an orange liqueur, we recommend switching out the triple sec for a splash of Paula’s.

Here’s the classic margarita recipe from Paula’s Texas Orange:

  • One part premium tequila
  • One part Paula’s Texas Orange liqueur
  • One part margarita mix (half lime juice, half water)

Shake with ice, strain, and serve.

You can add a bit of sugar if the limes are particularly tart.
