Cypress Valley Canopy Tours, closer to Austin off TX 71 (512/264–8880; www.cypressvalleycanopytours.com), offers a zip-line course through a canopy of old-growth cypress. And there’s a treehouse for overnight stays.

The Don Strange Ranch, 20 miles west of San Antonio and not far off I-10, now offers a course of four lines that are each in the 400-foot range. The ranch is open to the public for tours or for a package that includes biking, hiking, fishing, and more (210/434-2331; www.strangeclimb.com).
