December is a great time to visit. The grounds are gorgeous, the air crisp and cool. On December 13, you can help celebrate a free event called A Winedale Christmas: A 19th-Century Celebration, which features tours of the historic structures, holiday music, hayrides and stagecoach jaunts, a petting zoo, loom weaving and spinning wheel demonstrations, children’s crafts, and a visit by Kris Kringle. Old-fashioned was never so much fun.

The event is hosted by Winedale Historical Complex, a division of the Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin.
