Talk to TH: Pinto Canyon Road on a Harley? QUESTION

QUESTION: Harleys on Pinto Canyon Road?

Mr. Lohrmann

I recently finished your article on the Pinto Canyon Road, between Marfa and FM 170 at Ruidosa.

I have motorcycled FM 170 from Presidio to Terlingua and on into Big Bend National Park.

My riding companion and I plan to make this trip again this spring (when the weather is nice and warm) and would like to add the Pinto Canyon Road to the trip.

We ride Harley touring bikes (Harley Road King and Harley RoadĀ Glide) and would be coming from Wichita Falls. We would overnight in Marfa and ride the Pinto Canyon Road to FM 170 then west to Terlingua.

My question is, do you think we would have any trouble on the unpaved section (I guess about 22 miles) from where the hard surface ends and we arrive at FM 170?

We are both experienced motorcycle riders, but would not want to harm the bikes or us.

Your advice and input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!
