Talk to TH: Closer to home? ANSWER
QUESTION: Closer to home?
Good morning, Andy
Thanks for taking the time to send an email to Texas Highways magazine. We greatly appreciate hearing from our readers. It's interesting you ask about places close to home as I was just making a presentation to a local Rotary Club about that topic. Since our readers are spread out around the state, each issue includes something that's "close to home" for someone.
Of course, TH has many loyal fans –– like you –– who live in the Houston area. You probably noticed the features on Galveston (both the sand-sculpting event and the Centennial for the Hotel Galvez) as well as the feature on Texas' Upper Coast, which also is relatively close to Houston. Take a look at the web site –– www.texashighways.com –– and you'll see some updated information there (the magazine also is active on Facebook and Twitter, where Web Editor Lois Rodriguez frequently organizes giveaways and includes updates).
Keep an eye on the monthly Weekender column, always near the front of the magazine. Also on the very back page, you'll find Chet Garner's Daytripper column which covers good one-day itineraries for destinations around the state.
In the September issue, we'll have the next "Where in Texas Are You" contest –– and this year's prize is a stay in Galveston.
Thanks again for your support of Texas Highways.
