Free Press Summer Fest

Houston: June 3-4
Houston's biggest music festival kicks off its eighth annual summer at Eleanor Tinsley Park with some of the biggest names in music, including Lorde, Flume, Cage the Elephant, Tove Lo, and Solange. 

Billy The Kid Festival

San Elizario: June 2-4
Celebrating Billy the Kid's visit to San Elizario in 1876, the old Texas town will host historic plays and reenactments of the breakout of Billy's friend at the old El Paso County Jail. 

Texas 4000 Atlas Ride

Cedar Park: June 3
This 700+ person cycling event from Cedar Park to Lampasas offers a chance for supporters to ride the first 25, 50, or 70 miles with the Texas 4000 team as they start their 70-day journey from Austin to Anchorage. Enjoy beautiful views, rolling hills, and the wildlife of the Texas Hill Country. A post-ride festival happens at the finish line with a barbecue, live music, and other activities.

“Ai Weiwei” Unveiling

Austin: June 3
The Contemporary Austin partners with the Waller Creek Conservancy this weekend to unveil two monumental sculptures: “Forever Bicycles”—a sculpture comprising more than 1,200 bicycles—at the Waller Delta downtown along the city’s hike and bike trail, and “Iron Tree Trunk”—a 15-foot-high sculpture at Laguna Gloria. The public opening for both works will be celebrated with free family-friendly art activities and refreshments from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Waller Delta downtown.

Index Festival

Fort Worth: June 3
Formerly known as Untapped Festival, Index Fest will bring stellar celebrations of beer, music, food, and arts across the state of Texas—this weekend to Fort Worth's Panther Island Pavilion. 

Canada's Ballet BC

Dallas: June 3
The Texas debut of this company at the Winspear Opera House presents a diverse repertoire of Canadian and international work from the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

AIA Sandcastle Competition

Galveston: June 3
The public is invited to watch more than 60 teams compete on Galveston Beach for the prestigious Golden Bucket Award. Firms begin months in advance generating ideas, developing designs, and assigning duties. On the day of the event, the teams stretch along the beachfront, meticulously sculpt their piles of sand, and work nonstop for five hours. 

Bond's Alley Art Festival

Hillsboro: June 3-4
Bond's Alley dates back to the first days of Hillsboro and is situated between Texas' oldest pharmacy, T.B. Bond, and Hillsboro's oldest building, the Old Rock Saloon. But it is the quality of work that the artists and artisans bring to Bond's Alley that have helped this event draw from throughout the state since 1964. This year's featured artist will again be Texas legend George Boutwell. Visitors also will have a chance to shop the many craft and food vendors along Gould Street. New this year will be art activities for the kids and a stage set up behind the library for local musicians to show off their skills.

Round Top Music Festival

Round Top: June 4-July 16
Considered one of the most well-curated music festivals in the nation, this weekend marks the premiere of the Round Top Festival Institute's summer season, featuring talented young artists from across the world.
