Bob Wills Fiddle Festival and Contest

Greenville: Oct. 13-15

Celebrate the late “King of Western Swing” Bob Wills with this fourth annual festival. The weekend features performances by Johnny Bush, Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, and Clay Walker with Jason Roberts Band. Free events include a two-day, all-ages fiddle contest, a Western swing concert on Saturday, and dances on Friday and Saturday nights.


Beeville: Oct. 14

The Beeville Art Museum hosts this indoor/outdoor event that aims to bring the community together in celebration of the arts. The festival features local artisans like Jeri Salter and Cissy Beasley, area nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity, musical performances, interactive crafts, and refreshments that are available for purchase.

Brew and Barbecue Fest

Grand Prairie: Oct. 14-15

During this two-day event, barbecue aficionados have the opportunity to learn from the region’s top contest-winning pitmasters and taste their delicious smoked meats. While chowing down on a tasty lunch, hear tunes from the lively Chris Rivers Band.

Butterfly Flutterby

Grapevine: Oct. 14

Beautiful Monarch butterflies make a pit stop in Texas during their annual migration from Canada to Mexico. Send these beautiful creatures well wishes on their travels with lots of fun activities, including a butterfly costume parade, interactive games, face painting, and a scavenger hunt. Pets are welcome.

Eisenhower Birthday Celebration

Denison: Oct. 14

On this day in 1890, the 34th President of the United States Dwight Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas. His birthplace, now a state historic site, hosts a party that includes a 5K race, a swing concert, free tours of the home he was born in, and, of course, cake.


Lago Vista: Oct. 14

This fall-themed festival features fun for the whole family.  Enjoy music, games for children and adults, a silent auction, petting booth, zip-line, dunking booth, pie-eating contest, raffle, classic car show, country store with handmade gifts, and a washers tournament.
