Still recovering from your booming Fourth of July? Don’t let the party stop yet. This weekend features art and music festivals across the state, plus car shows, barbecue, and ice cream.

25th Annual Balcones Heights Jazz Festival

San Antonio: July 6
Diverse headliners from across the country take the stage at the 25th annual Balcones Heights Jazz Festival. This year’s performances feature a diverse line-up of headlining and special opening acts that will light up the stage. These performers include: Peter White, Will Donato, Nick Colionne, San Antonio’s Army and Airforce bands, Eric Darius, Cindy Bradley, local singing sensation Ruben V with Onel Jimenez, Joseph Vincelli, and fan favorite Slim Man. This free festival celebrates jazz in and around Texas and brings together jazz lovers for a month of live and entertaining concerts.


Edinburg: July 7
Celebrate the life and legacy of world-renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The free festival will showcase a variety of local and visiting talents, including art, live music, dance, and poetry to celebrate and explore the artwork that Kahlo created throughout her lifetime. Guests are invited to join in on Frida look-alike contests, enjoy multiple food booths, and purchase Frida-themed handcrafted merchandise.

Festival de Mariachi

Grand Prairie: July 7
Enjoy this exciting and free event with live music from numerous mariachis from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including Mariachi Orgullo de México, Mariachi Nuevo San Luis, Mariachi Bronce, and Mariachi Michoacán.

Llano Rock'N Riverfest

Llano: July 7
Festivities include jet ski racing, a barbecue cook-off, food vendors, the Rat-Rod Car Show, and swimming and kayaking along the lake at Badu Park, all ending with an evening concert. Enjoy fireworks over the Llano River.

Cruisin' on the Plaza

Paris: July 6
Come check out the antique and vintage vehicles out for show and tell. Classic and antique enthusiasts of Paris park their automobiles around the Plaza in Historic Downtown Paris and visit with friends and visitors to talk about their vehicles.

Rockport Art Festival

Rockport: July 7-8
Over 120 artists and craftsmen from across the nation show their masterpieces in a variety of media and styles at this juried fine-arts event. See breathtaking ceramics and paintings, listen to live music, and buy your favorite piece at auction.

First Saturday at the Chicken Farm

San Angelo: July 7
The Chicken Farm Art Center of San Angelo hosts a monthly celebration of art, music, and community. There will be artist vendors with great works and gifts, a live music circle hosted by The Chicken Pickers, great food, and clay and painting for the kids to enjoy.

Shiner Sign

Half-Moon Holidays Celebration and Barbecue Cook-off

Shiner: July 6-7
You won’t want to miss this celebration that includes a barbecue cook-off, live music, family-friendly activities, food and drink, arts and crafts, a downtown parade, and a fireworks display Saturday at dusk.


Temple: July 6
Bring your lunch or stop by one of Downtown Temple's restaurants for some mid-day music by local performers. Some picnic tables will be provided, but feel free to bring your own lawn chair or something to sit on.

Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival

Wimberley: July 7
Enjoy frozen treats, entertainment, and old-fashioned summer fun at this festival hosted by St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Proceeds benefit Camp Good Sam, a program that fights summer learning loss in low-income youth.
